Busy with scheduling the papers for the 15th Gesellschaft für Musiktheorie (GMTH) conference, taking place in Berlin at the weekend of the 25th anniversary of German Reunification, 1–4 October, 2015. Looking forward!
Forthcoming Events in June
That’ll be a multifaceted weekend. Glad to announce a triptych of events, along with cordial invitations!
(1) Friday, 12 June, 8 pm: A performance of my animalistic flute-and-viola duo-cycle Zoologischer Garten, played by Christina Anders & Anne Uerlichs @ Schwartzsche Villa Steglitz.
(2) Saturday, 13 June, 4 pm: Sacred music by Lassus and Rheinberger, performed in a concert of Kammerchor der UdK Berlin @ Zisterzienserkloster Lehnin.
(3) Saturday, 13 June, 10 pm: My first appearance in a Berlin-based poetry slam @ Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften, TU Berlin, Volkswagen Library.
My Music Education Rant
The final version of my article on the current state of professional music education in Germany is now available here. Shortened versions were previously published by neue musikzeitung and VAN Magazin. Your opinion and feedback is much appreciated!
Application Procedure & Composer Slam
This morning: My first application for a professoral position at UdK Berlin, Faculty of Music. Audition could have went worse, even if I’m not overconfident. — Tonight: My first premiere on an electronic piano. Looking forward to introducing a new piece in the Composer Slam at Musikfestival Heidelberger Frühling.
Paper on Russian Piano Preludes
Struggling heavily to finish a lengthy essay on omni-tonal 24-prelude sets for piano from Soviet Russia, dealing in particular with music by Shostakovich and Kabalevsky. To be published soon on Academia.edu, as well as on my labyrinthian personal website.
